A renewed naming rights partnership between leading telecom One New Zealand and the world’s most celebrated expedition race, One New Zealand GODZONE, cements the event’s future progress.

One NZ GODZONE Chapter 12 is being held in the stunning Marlborough region of New Zealand this November, with teams of four enduring the multi-day challenge with grit and physical tenacity. The organising team and race crews behind the One NZ GODZONE event will be dotted along the remote course and be able keep in touch throughout the race using One NZ Satellite TXT wherever they have line of sight to the sky. This game-changing service from One NZ, in partnership with Starlink, will allow the crews to stay in touch by sending TXTs where there is no traditional cell tower coverage.

One New Zealand Senior Brand Lead, Naomi Reynolds, says One NZ GODZONE offers a unique opportunity to showcase innovative technology while supporting Kiwis doing extraordinary things in the great outdoors.

One New Zealand will be collaborating with One NZ GODZONE on the delivery of content, using One NZ Satellite to help support the event’s media logistics and communications.

“We are committed to growing the One NZ GODZONE partnership by creating integrated logos, updating social handles and supporting partnered content to bring even more real-time updates direct from remote transition areas on the Marlborough race course,” says Reynolds.

One New Zealand is the first to launch a nationwide Satellite TXT service powered by Starlink Direct to Cell globally; which helps New Zealanders with an eligible phone and plan, be better connected, safer, and more productive.

One NZ Satellite TXT provides coverage across Aotearoa, including around 40% of New Zealand’s landmass that is not covered by traditional mobile networks, plus approximately 20 kilometres out to sea. In addition to covering blackspots in remote areas, One NZ Satellite provides coverage resilience in areas already served by the One NZ cell network, in the event of a natural disaster or the power going out.

One NZ GODZONE spokesperson, Rob Nichol, has welcomed the high-profile partnership with One New Zealand, saying their level of support recognises the work and vision of the PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trust, which is behind the event.

“Myself, Richie McCaw and Adam Fairmaid were recently on a course recce in Marlborough where we sent a text message using One NZ Satellite after getting a flat tyre out on a remote farm with no traditional cell service. It was a lifesaver, to be honest, and got us back up and moving in no time.”
